Heading into the Summer of Racing

The GT Motorsports team is fresh off a win at Sacramento Raceway for the Funny Car Fever race that NFCA and Lee Jennings jr. put on. Looking to the summer we have several races we are looking at attending. In June, we have the option to race Salt Lake City and Phoenix for some decent prize money that is being offered. July will be full as well as we are heading to Mission, Canada and Boise, Idaho. The team is ready to go and we have made some changes to the car that should deliver some great numbers on the track. Cory Lee has put a tune up into the car that has not only been consistent, but also the car is not hurting parts. Speaking of Cory, look for him in the next months to drive the IHRA circuit as well as the Reunion in Bowling Green, Ky. We look forward to seeing all the fans out there and please make sure you stop by and say hi.

Good Racing--

2008 Is Here!

Another year is here and it is almost time to start racing again for the highly anticipated 2008 Nostalgia racing season. The GT Motorsports Nitro Nostalgia Funny Car is getting the final touches to go out and compete for the newly organized NHRA “Heritage Series.” In addition to finishing up the car, we have taken ownership of a new truck and trailer that will make our appearance and comfort that much better at the races. Along with equipment changes to both the car and transporter, GT Motorsports has added to an already talented team with the addition of John Wurtz. John brings a wealth of knowledge not only to our engine program, but has a full understanding of Nitro Funny Cars. John will be in charge of the engine and will act as our head mechanic under the leadership of the very talented driver and tuner Cory Lee.
We are very excited to start the new season and will be testing some new ideas at Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield, Ca on February 16th. Our first race of the season will be the 50th anniversary of the famed March Meet in Bakersfield. The car count is roughly 20 cars at this point competing for an 8 car show.
As we count down the days to the March Meet, I would like to point thanks to the efforts of Gary Turner for his drive to have the most competitive car in the business, our talented team who works hard at the shop every week, and to all our sponsors for their continued support of our racing program. We will be racing to win in 2008 and look forward to seeing everyone out at the track.

The Close of 2007!

The close of 2007 is here and the GT Motorsports team is gearing up for the 2008 season. Since this is the news section, I thought I should share some of the new and exciting news that is happening right now. Cory Lee has come on to be the new crew chief of the “Pedaler” nostalgia funny car. He has done it all, driven, wrenched and even owned his own funny car team. We are excited to have him on board and we look forward to working with him in the 2008 season. Steve Gibbs of the NHRA Musueam has created a 5 race series for next year that should be really fun and competitive. I personally think that it will be great for this nostalgia funny car movement.

You will find the “Pedaler” on the cover of Drag Racer Magazine for its October issue. I want to thank Randy Fish for making this happen. We like exposure and this is great exposure for the team. We are testing on the 22nd of September at Famoso and will be in competition for the 8 car show at the famed California Hot Rod Reunion. We will be there to defend our title.
See you at the Races,

Kris Krabill

2007 Going Quick!

It is hard to believe that the 2007 season is almost at the halfway mark. The next race for the Nostalgia Funny Cars is in Mission, Canada for an 8 car show that should be very competitive and exciting. That track is one of the best around and we should see some record numbers from the teams up there. The GT Motorsports team has decided to skip the long haul to Canada and focus on the Spokane race that is in the first of August. We are really looking forward to going up there and seeing all the fans. They are great up in the Northwest!

We have been working hard to get all of our parts together and decided to sit out some races to gather more parts for races coming in the near future. People who are associated with these cars know that it takes many months to collect spare parts and all of 5 seconds to junk them. With that said, we will be ready to roll when we get to the track.

As I am writing this, I am watching vintage drag racing on ESPN Classics! I think it is E-town in the early 90’s. For you all that have not seen the race or remember it, Del Worsham had a huge fire and crashed into the sand. If you don’t know Del, he is one of the coolest guys around and just loves the sport. I have seen him over the years have some wild rides and yet jump right back in the car. In my opinion, he is a true funny car driver!

Stay in tune with the Nostalgia movement over the next few months and you will see some great racing. We look forward to seeing all of you soon!
